I used to think a clean desk was key, but clutter changed my mind

Every day I would tidy my work area, sure it helped me stay on task. Then one week I was too busy to clean and found I could grab what I needed faster. Now I let some papers stack up because it feels like my brain works better with a bit of chaos. My boss finds it odd, but I finish my reports quicker this way.

Yeah, my friend Jenny always had a tidy desk until a huge deadline. She got so busy that folders, notes, and pens piled up. She found she could grab the right paper faster without digging through drawers. Her manager side-eyed the mess, but she turned in her project two days early. She says a little clutter just matches how her brain sorts things now.

Does Jenny's manager let her keep the piles around now, or did she have to clean up? Mark's three monitor sticky note system seems pretty permanent.

Reminds me of my buddy Mark, who codes for a living. He tried the clean desk thing for a month but got way slower. Now he's got three monitors covered in sticky notes in what looks like total chaos, but he says each pile is a different problem he's solving. He showed me how he can put his hand right on the exact sketch he needs without even looking. Makes you wonder if some brains just work better with everything out in the open, right?

My friend Liam designs better when his desk looks ransacked.
