Finally fixed my squeaky office chair after 6 months of ignoring it
I kept putting off fixing the squeak in my chair every time I leaned back. It got so bad during Zoom calls that my coworker asked if I was sitting on a rusty swing set. Took me pulling the chair apart in my kitchen and finding a loose bolt under the gas cylinder. That whole adventure ate up 45 minutes but now it's dead silent and I feel like I won a small battle against procrastination. Anyone else got a tiny home office fix they regretted not doing sooner?

Oh man, good for you! My friend Sarah went through something similar with her chair but she let it squeak for over a year. Her husband finally got so annoyed during his calls that he just bought a new chair without telling her. She was mad for like two days but honestly she said the new one is way more comfortable and she wished she'd just dealt with the noise months earlier. Funny how we'll put up with something annoying for way too long before finally fixing it.

You ever think about how that chair squeak might not just be annoying but actually a safety thing? A buddy of mine ignored his for months until the gas cylinder gave out completely and he hit the floor mid-zoom call, bruised his tailbone pretty bad (plus the embarrassment). So maybe Sarah's husband did her a favor by forcing that upgrade before something worse happened.

Exactly, I had a similar thing with my desk chair a few years back. A little squirt of WD-40 on the gas cylinder stem fixed it instantly, wish I'd tried that before I dealt with the squeak for months.
