Had a chat with a carpenter about my desk setup and he made me feel like an idiot
Pointed out my $400 standing desk was sagging in the middle because I missed the crossbar support that came in the box, and now I'm wondering what else I've been assembling wrong for the past decade.

Laughing but only because I've been there. Missing a single bracket on a bookshelf and wondering why it wobbles like a toddler learning to walk is basically a rite of passage at this point. Bet that crossbar is just chilling in the box like "remember me?" while your desk says "help I'm dying." Honestly though, $400 desk sagging just means you're using it for actual work instead of decoration, so that's kinda a flex. Just remember, at least you caught it before the whole thing turned into a sad pile of wood and regret.

Yeah, that "sad pile of wood and regret" hits close to home. If the sag is already visible, grab a piece of angle iron from the hardware store and bolt it underneath across the span. Costs like 10 bucks and saves you from rebuilding the whole setup in a month.

Wait, you're telling me there are actually crossbars that come in the box that people just forget to install? That's wild, I've never even thought to check for that.
