Spent $180 on a standing desk converter that barely works on my 6-year-old desk

I bought one of those cheap standing desk converters from Amazon for $180 thinking it would be a quick fix for my home office. Problem is my desk is this old IKEA model with a weird support bar underneath. The clamp won't grip right and it wobbles every time I type. I've tried padding it with cardboard but it still shifts around. Now I'm looking at getting a whole new electric standing desk for like $400. Anyone else regret trying to cheap out on a standing setup?

Different desks handle those converter clamps totally differently so it's not always about being cheap.

Oh man, that’s rough! My desk setup is basically held together with hope and bad decisions at this point. I tried to save $50 on a monitor arm once and it ended up slowly tilting my screen towards the floor like a sad robot bowing out.
