A friend told me my anime reviews were just plot summaries, and it stung a bit
After I posted my take on the first season of 'Vinland Saga' last month, a buddy flat out said, 'You're just telling me what happened, not what you think about it.' He was right (I was basically just listing events). So now, for every new show I watch, I force myself to write at least two sentences about the themes or characters, not just the story. It's harder, but my posts feel more like real talks. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that totally changed how you write about shows?

Hold on, sometimes I just want to know if the story is any good before I dive in! A straight summary tells me if the plot is a mess or actually makes sense. That's way more useful than someone's deep thoughts on the "themes.

It's a pretty common trap... happens with movie takes and book reviews too. People just get stuck on the "what" before they figure out the "why it matters".
