Dropped by the old Suncoast in the mall and felt ancient

I walked into the Suncoast Video at our local mall last Saturday looking for a nostalgia hit and realized they barely have any anime DVDs anymore. It's all Funko pops and Marvel merch now, not a single copy of Evangelion on the shelf. Does anyone else remember when stores like this actually carried decent anime selections or am I just dating myself?

oh man that hits different. i remember when suncoast was basically my second home in high school because they had that whole wall of anime vhs tapes with the little cardboard sleeves and i would just stand there reading the back covers for like an hour. my cousin worked there in the late 90s and she used to sneak me promo posters of outlaw star and cowboy bebop that they were just gonna throw out anyway. now when i walk in there its just rows of those stupid pop figures and maybe one shelf of anime blu-rays if youre lucky and its all dragon ball z and my hero academia repeats. i miss when stores actually carried weird stuff like gatchaman crowds or haibane renmei on dvd without having to special order it from some website.

is it really that deep though? i mean yeah it sucks that stores changed but people are just buying what sells.
