Dub vs sub debate, I finally flipped after watching one arc in Japanese
I always swore dubs were easier to follow until last week when a friend made me watch the tournament arc in Japanese and I noticed the dub had been softening all the character insults for years, has anyone else caught that kind of translation shift?

Did you also sit there for like ten minutes trying to figure out if you were hearing things or if the subs were just way meaner than what you grew up with? I did that exact thing with the Namek arc and felt like a total fool when I realized the dub had been calling Vegeta a jerk while the sub had him saying stuff that would get me grounded. The insults really are the first thing that gets watered down because dubs have to keep it airing on TV. Now I keep the subs on and let my pride take the hit.
