Spent $230 on a full Monogatari blu-ray set at a con and finally watched it all
I grabbed the whole Bake set from a vendor at Anime Expo last summer for $230, which felt nuts at the time. Six months later I have actually watched all 15 episodes instead of letting them sit on the shelf like my other impulse buys. The wordplay in the subs is way better than the streaming version I tried back in 2021. Did anyone else pick up a series at a con that turned into a real favorite, or did yours just collect dust?

Why buy a whole box set when you can just stream it for way less? $230 is like two years of a streaming sub and you would not have to worry about shelf space or discs getting scratched. Half the fun of a con haul is the bragging rights, but most of those sets end up sitting there while people rewatch on their phones anyway. So was it really the set that made it a favorite, or would you have loved the show just the same on a cheap stream?
