That conversation with a 19 year old about Dub versus Sub hit different
I was at a coffee shop last Tuesday and this kid sitting next to me was watching anime on his laptop. I noticed he had the English dub on and I made a comment about how subs are better. He looked at me and said "I watch both but dubs let me actually see the art, not just read words." I started to argue back but then I realized he had a point I never considered before. For years I thought sub was the only real way to watch anime but he said he grew up with dubs and that's just how he connects to the stories. It made me wonder if I was being closed minded this whole time. Has anyone else changed their mind on dub versus sub after talking to someone younger?

Doesn't gatekeeping just make the whole thing feel stale and exhausting @blake_kelly19? Letting people vibe with stuff however they want keeps the fun alive instead of turning it into some weird contest. Who's really losing when someone enjoys things wrong, anyway?
