Update: I totally flipped on skipping anime recaps
Ngl, I used to think recap episodes were just lazy filler and skipped them every time. My friend pushed me to watch the recap before the finale of 'Demon Slayer' season 2. I caved and saw how it tied together all the emotional beats I'd forgotten. Now I make a point to watch recaps, especially for arcs with lots of characters. It honestly makes the big moments hit way harder. If you skip them too, you might be missing out on key stuff.

Yeah the Demon Slayer season 2 recap totally changed my mind too. Was lost on some plot points until I watched it. Now I never skip.

But what if you're marathoning a show and the episodes are fresh? Those recap segments just rehash scenes you literally just watched... it kills the pace. Sure, @dylan_foster found it useful, but for a lot of series, it feels like padding that takes away from the runtime for new stuff. I'd rather have more actual story than a repeat.

It reminds me of when my nephew tried to get into an older show like 'Fullmetal Alchemist'. He skipped the "previously on" bits because he was binging, but then got confused about who all the state alchemists were. The recap actually laid out the rules of that world in a clear way he had missed. Sometimes those summaries are written for first-time weekly viewers, but they can really help organize a complicated plot in your head.
