A guy in Tulsa told me to stop replacing thermistors on Whirlpool dryers, and he was right
He said check the vent run first because a clogged 4 inch duct makes the thermistor read wild and I had been swapping parts on a Kenmore for 3 service calls. Anybody else got a cheap first check that saves them from a parts cannon?

A clogged vent causing weird readings is just basic airflow, that's not some big secret. The thermistor sits in the airstream so yeah, if the duct is packed with lint the heat backs up and the sensor sees temps that don't match reality. Checking the vent first is smart but it's not like every service call turns into a parts swap nightmare, most of the time the right part fixes it fine.
