Drove 2 hours to a Whirlpool duet washer repair and should have just left it
Had a service call last week about 40 miles out for a Whirlpool Duet washer that wouldn't drain. The customer said over the phone it was a simple clog, and I had a choice: bring my full drain pump kit for $180 or just the basic tools and a snake. I picked the just the basic tools because I figured it would be a 20 minute job. Turns out the pump was fried and the boot seal was cracked, so I had to drive back home for the part and come back the next day. Lost about 5 hours and two trips for what should have been one visit. Now I always bring the full kit on anything over 30 minutes away. How do you guys decide what to load up for a long distance call?
