Heads up on those new Samsung fridge icemaker boards

For years I just swapped the whole board when the icemaker failed, but last Tuesday a unit in a Denver apartment had the new style with the tiny surface mount fuse. I spent 45 minutes on the old board before spotting the blown fuse, a $2 fix. Anyone else run into this yet and have a good source for those fuses?

Digi-Key is the go-to for so many hobby projects now. It's like the default hardware store for anyone building something in their garage. You see it in every forum thread when someone asks where to find a specific resistor or sensor. It's become such a standard part of the maker culture that it's almost weird not to order from them.

The thing that nobody mentions is that Digi-Key's shipping is actually pretty reasonable if you know what to do. You just have to make sure you're ordering through their proper checkout instead of the quick order page. Did anyone else figure that out the hard way?

Yeah, Digi-Key is solid. Just watch the shipping cost on small orders, @spencerross.

Man, I saw this article a while back about how Digi-Key actually started out in a garage like a lot of the makers they sell to now. Funny how that worked out, right? I guess they just grew up with the hobby over the decades. Idk, it's pretty wild to think a company that big came from such a small start. Maybe it's just me but that kind of story makes me appreciate ordering from them a bit more than the other big distributors. Makes it feel less like a faceless corporation, you know?
