Just realized I've been overcomplicating ice maker diagnoses for years

Honestly, we all get stuck on the fancy stuff. I used to pull out multimeters for every little noise until I realized most ice maker issues are just about the water. Check the fill tube first, it's always clogged with slime. Then look at the inlet valve screen, that thing collects junk like crazy. Ngl, half my service calls were fixed by cleaning those two spots and walking away.

Totally agree with @torres.riley on starting simple. I used to overcomplicate things too, looking for electrical gremlins right away. Now I check the basics first and it saves so much time.

Yeah, the part about the inlet valve screen is so true. I read a repair manual that said something like 80% of ice maker calls are just water flow problems. It's never the board or the motor, it's always a clog or a kinked line. I started carrying a little pick tool just for that screen, and it's crazy how much gunk comes out. Makes you feel silly for ever thinking it was something worse.
