Old fridge vs new fridge - picked the wrong one for this rental
I had to choose between fixing a 15 year old Kenmore fridge or buying a new energy star model for this duplex I work on. The old one had a bad compressor and the quote from the supplier was $480 to swap it out. But a new basic fridge was $650 so I figured go new for the warranty and efficiency. Well the new one died after 3 months - some circuit board issue - and the tenant was without a fridge for 5 days waiting on parts. Looking back I should have just fixed the old one since those things run forever. Has anyone else had better luck sticking with older units in rentals?

New appliances just aren't built like they used to be.
