PSA: Check the drain pump filter before ordering that $130 part
Three separate jobs this month in Boise, all washers throwing the same error code. Two of them were clogged pump filters, one had a bobby pin stuck in the impeller. Customer already ordered the replacement pump online before I even looked at the machine. That's $130 down the drain each time plus the headache of returning it. I get it, the code says pump fault, but 9 times out of 10 it's just debris blocking the flow. I always pop the filter housing off first now, takes maybe 4 minutes with a quarter and a towel. Anyone else seeing this pattern with the newer front loaders, or is it just my corner of the market?

That return hassle is the worst part too, because now they're stuck boxing up a part they never needed and eating shipping both ways. I've had the same thing happen with the bobby pin situation, except it was a hair tie wrapped around the impeller so tight I had to cut it off. Four minutes with a quarter and a towel beats a $130 order every single time, so keep preaching it.
