Serious question, what's your go-to fix for a shaking washer?

Had a front-loader shaking bad today. Wondering if you check the springs first.

Actually yeah, springs are the first thing i look at on an older front-loader, lol. If those suspension springs are shot or loose, the drum is just floating around in there. You can level the machine perfectly and it'll still dance across the floor. My last one shook because a spring hook was worn out after like 10 years.

Read an old repair manual that said springs and leveling work together, but worn springs will cause shaking even on a perfectly flat surface. It made sense because the drum needs those springs to stay centered during spins. That's why checking them first on older models saves time.

Wait, a spring hook actually wears out like that...

You mentioned checking the springs first, but I always start with the leveling feet. If the machine isn't level, it'll shake no matter what.
