That $80 capacitor tester I bought was a total waste of money
Grabbed one of those fancy digital capacitor testers for a multi-split job in Austin and it read everything as bad, even brand new ones from the box. Turns out the cheap leads it came with were throwing off the readings, and I ended up replacing two good compressors before I figured it out. Anyone else get burned by a diagnostic tool that was more trouble than it was worth?

Did you test those leads on a known good cap before trusting the meter on the job? Those cheap alligator clips can add enough resistance to skew readings, especially on smaller caps. Curious if the brand of tester mattered or if it was just the leads.
