That Frigidaire ice maker that kept freezing over, turned out to be the door gasket
Had a call last Tuesday in Columbus for a fridge making this weird grinding sound. Ice maker was jammed solid, so I pulled it apart and cleaned out all the frost. Looked fine after that, but the next day the customer called back saying it was frozen over again. Third visit I finally noticed the door gasket was warped on the bottom corner, letting humid air in. Replaced the gasket and it's been running smooth for a week. Anyone else ever chased an ice maker issue for multiple trips only to find it was a seal problem?
Man, that's the classic hidden gremlin right there. Did you happen to check the gasket with a dollar bill test or just spot the warp by eye? I swear those bottom corners are the first spot to go bad on any fridge, especially if it's been bumped or dragged.
