The torque spec sheet from 1998 that caught me off guard
Found an old Maytag tech bulletin in a box at a shop in Tulsa, it listed a clutch bolt torque at 40 ft-lbs, but every modern chart I've seen says 35. I've been doing these for a decade and never checked the original source, has anyone else hit this kind of discrepancy on older units?

Man, I heard torque specs change when suppliers swap bolts, not just age. Weird find though.

I had a 2014 F150 where the ball joint torque spec jumped by 12 ft-lbs after Ford switched to a different grade of bolt mid-year. My torque wrench showed the new spec, so I redid everything with fresh hardware. Sure enough, the old bolts were fine but the new ones needed that extra squeeze. Suppliers change stuff all the time without telling anyone. You basically have to double check the part number or bolt head marking every damn time. Did you end up finding the updated spec sheet for that joint?
