TIL my fridge's ice maker was trying to tell me something for weeks

It started making this weird grinding noise about a month ago, but I kept ignoring it because the ice was still coming out. Then last Tuesday, it just stopped completely. I took the whole assembly apart and found a tiny piece of plastic from the water inlet tube had broken off and jammed the gearbox. The noise was the gears slipping. Anyone else had a Frigidaire model 126 do this? I'm wondering if it's a common weak point.

Mine just failed quietly, so I guess you got the warning I didn't.

That "failed quietly" thing happened with my old coffee maker.

Yeah, I saw a forum post about that exact plastic piece failing on the 126 model. Seems like a known issue.
