PSA: That 500 year old mummy they found in the Andes wasn't what I expected
I was reading through some old National Geographic archives my dad passed down to me, and I stumbled on a report about a mummy discovered in Peru back in 1995. They found it at like 20,000 feet up on Mount Ampato, and it was a young girl, probably sacrificed. What got me though was how well preserved she was - you could see her hair, her skin, even her fingernails. The cold and dry air up there basically freeze-dried her over 5 centuries. Has anyone else dug into those high altitude Inca finds and been blown away by the condition they stayed in?
