Chose between digging the full trench and just doing test pits, and I picked wrong
Back in 2019 I was on a survey near Tucson and we had two ways to chase a buried wall. My field director said dig the full 30 meter trench or just do six test pits and see what pops. I went with the pits because it was August and 108 degrees, and we found almost nothing. A buddy who worked the same site went with a trench a week later and hit a pit house floor with three whole ollas still in place. Has anyone else been burned by picking the cheap option in the field and watched someone else get the good stuff?
