Field notes on paper vs tablet, I finally switched after a rainstorm ruined my notebook in Jordan

I used to sketch every trench wall in a waterproof notebook, but after a flash flood soaked 3 weeks of recording near Jerash, I moved to a rugged tablet with stylus input, and now my site supervisor actually reads my daily logs without squinting at my handwriting, has anyone else made the jump and regretted losing the tactile feel?

That rainstorm story hits close to home. I remember losing a whole season of soil notes to a burst water bottle in my pack, and it was brutal watching the ink bleed into nothing. Losing three weeks near Jerash though, that's a real kick in the teeth. I get the tactile worry, but honestly, being able to zoom into a sketch or search back through your own logs saves so much headache. I still keep a small pocket notebook for little observations, but the tablet does the heavy lifting now.
