Got burned by a fake artifact listing on eBay in 2019, now I check every seller's feedback history
I was bidding on what looked like a real Roman coin from a seller in Ohio with only 3 feedback, and it turned out to be a cheap cast copy that a museum guy in Chicago confirmed for me. Now I won't touch a listing unless the seller has at least 50 reviews and photos of the actual item, has anyone else gotten burned like that?
Learned the hard way too, lost about 200 bucks on a "genuine" civil war button that was shiny new metal under the dirt. Now I reverse image search every photo before I bid, because scammers pull pics from old auction sites and museum archives. Ask the seller for a close up with a coin or paper next to it showing today's date, real sellers will do it no problem and fakes always ghost you.
