Skeptical about that 'Roman dodecahedron' theory, now I'm not so sure
I spent years rolling my eyes at the idea those bronze dodecahedrons from Roman Britain had any practical use, figured it was just folks making stuff up for headlines. Then I read the 2023 paper from the Norton Disney dig site in Lincolnshire, where they found one with wax residue inside and wear patterns on the knobs. That plus the fact they never show up in any art or written record makes me think they might have been ritual objects after all, not tools. Anyone else flip their stance after seeing new evidence like this?
