Spent 4 hours trying to figure out if a rock was a tool or just a rock
Found what I was sure was a hand axe while walking a creek bed near Taos, so I sent photos to three different archaeology groups and got three completely different answers. One guy swore it was a worked scraper, another said it was a geofact, and a third just asked if I had picked it up yet (I had, oops). Does anyone have a reliable way to tell a real tool from a rock that just happens to look like one, or do I just need to take a class?
