Totally mistook a Roman bath tile for a pizza stone at a dig site

Last summer I was volunteering at a small excavation near Bath, UK, and I pulled up this curved terracotta piece that looked exactly like my friend's pizza stone. I joked about using it for a margherita, and the site supervisor gave me a 10-minute lecture on how it was actually a hypocaust floor tile from 100 AD. Now I triple-check every flat red thing before I even mention cooking.

Ever get that lecture printed on a t-shirt for next time?

Oh come on, it can't be that serious. @hernandez.gavin probably gets a kick out of making people feel bad over a simple joke. I'd still call it a pizza stone just to mess with him.

Bathwater might actually make a better pizza topping than their sense of humor.
