A client's dad told me barbering was just a job, not a career, and it got me thinking
He was in my chair last Friday and said his son should focus on 'real work' instead of cutting hair. He called it a side hustle you can't build a future on. I've been doing this for eight years and own my own station, so that hit different. Do you think there's still a big gap between seeing this as a trade versus just a temporary gig?

That guy's view is pretty outdated. A solid trade like barbering can absolutely be a real career.

Right? My buddy went to barber school five years ago and now he's got his own shop, does six figures easy just cutting hair and doing fades. People think it's some dead end thing but it's steady work with cash tips on top. Plus you're your own boss if you want, set your own hours. Why would anyone call that outdated when it's literally always in demand?
