Appreciation post: Straight trim won over a fade for a satisfied regular

Most barbers around here push fades as the go-to style. I kept it clean with a standard cut and the client said it was exactly right. Good to see that simple still works.

Trends get popular for a reason though. A good barber pushing a fade might just see it fits your head shape better than a plain cut.

My barber in college always insisted on giving me a hard part, even when I just wanted a basic trim. He said it 'framed my face better' but it just made me look like a 1920s newsboy. I finally switched to a place that listens, and now my hair doesn't have a random line shaved into it. Some stylists get so stuck on trends they forget what the client actually asked for.

Man, I feel that. My old barber once gave me a hard part so deep I thought he was trying to sketch a blueprint on my head. Had to wear a hat for a month.
