Can we talk about how some guys are still using the wrong guard for blending?

I keep seeing fades where the transition line is way too harsh because the barber skipped a guard size. My mentor in Charlotte drilled into me that you never jump more than a half guard up, especially from a 0 to a 1.5. Anyone else have a specific blending rule they stick to?

Nah, my buddy Marcus let his cousin cut his hair last summer and the guy did exactly that, went from a 0 to a 1.5. Looked like someone drew a dark line around his whole head with a Sharpie.

Wait, they're skipping from a zero straight to a one and a half? How does that even look okay in the mirror before they finish? That's just asking for a stripe.

Actually, a good barber can make that jump look seamless. It's all about how they blend it out. The final result can look really sharp.
