Just read a study that found 40% of barbers get hand pain within five years.
I was looking up stretches on a barber forum and saw a link to a health journal article. It said the constant scissor work and clipper grip really adds up fast. What do you guys do to keep your hands from getting sore?

Honestly that number sounds low to me. You see the same thing with people who type all day or work on assembly lines. Tbh most jobs with small, repeated motions just grind your body down over time. It's wild we don't teach this stuff in school before people pick a trade. Good on you for looking up stretches now instead of waiting for the pain to start.

My buddy worked at a print shop for years, just feeding paper into a machine all day. His right shoulder got so bad he couldn't lift a gallon of milk without wincing. The doctor called it a repetitive strain injury from that one tiny motion, thousands of times a day. He had to do months of physical therapy, and it never fully got back to normal. It really shows how those small moves add up.

But come on, how bad can feeding paper really be?
