My artist friend's pencil grip showed me a better way to hold my comb.

I watched my friend sketch with a pencil and copied how he held it. Now I use that same grip on my comb for detailed work. My line-ups look cleaner and I have more control. It's a small tweak that gets my fades looking sharp.

Wow, I always thought that was silly but maybe not.

Copying a pencil grip for your comb is clever, but lisas78 comparing pottery to cake frosting makes me wonder if we're overthinking simple tasks.

You see this kind of skill transfer all the time in daily life. My cousin uses her pottery techniques to frost cakes more smoothly. The right hand position just clicks across different tasks.

Get that completely. Felt the same way trying to trim my own beard. Borrowed how my dad holds a paintbrush for edging walls and it just worked better on my razor. Some habits just slide right into a new job.
