PSA: Don't buy the cheap 'self-cleaning' clipper oil from that online ad

I saw a video ad for this 'miracle' oil that supposedly cleans your blades as you cut. Dropped $40 on two bottles. Used it on my main clippers and it left this sticky, gummy film that actually made the blades run hotter. Had to stop mid-fade, take everything apart, and scrub it all off with the proper stuff. Anyone know a good brand that actually works without the mess?

I mean, it's just clipper oil, not engine coolant. A few drops of the basic stuff from the beauty supply store has never failed me. That gunk sounds awful, but maybe the real lesson is to skip the fancy "self-cleaning" claims altogether.

Yeah wood.jana, your barber's probably right... I bet that "self-cleaning" oil just means it cleans out your wallet.
