Shoutout to when I started cleaning my combs after every client
I used to let my combs pile up dirty all day long. Then a client pointed out gunk in his hair. Now I clean them after each cut, and no more complaints. But it eats into my break time. Why is keeping things clean such a hassle?

Man, I was the same way for years. I used to think a quick wipe on my apron was enough until I saw a line of someone else's dandruff on a black comb I was about to use. That visual changed everything for me. Now the two seconds it takes to spray and wipe feels like a no brainer, even if my break gets a little shorter. It's one of those things you don't realize is gross until you see it from the client's point of view.

See, that visual would get me too, but honestly some salons just run different. At my old spot, we kept combs in barbicide jars at every station, so a quick dip felt plenty clean between clients. Never had a single complaint in three years. Sometimes it's less about seeing gross stuff and more about what cleaning steps are already built into the routine.

Read that @the_jordan's story is why rules exist, right?

But what if those built-in steps aren't enough for every client? @the_jordan's story shows how a quick check can catch what routines miss. So it's worth taking that extra second, even if it means a shorter break.
