Stop using thinning shears on the crown

Every guy who walks in my chair in Austin has this hack job on the crown from the last barber. Thinning shears just leave these weird stubby pieces that stick straight up after a week. I see it all the time from new guys who think it's a shortcut for blending. You need to use point cutting or a texturizing razor instead if you want it to lay flat. When did this become the go-to move for fading the crown? Anyone else dealing with fixing these messes at their shop?

Oh for crying out loud, I had a neighbor once who let her poodle get so matted we couldn't tell where the dog ended and the rug started. The groomer had to shave it bald. Reminded me of those crowns gone wrong.

My 20 years in the chair says thinning shears save me when a crown grows wild.

I told a guy once he had a crop circle on his crown.
