Hit $4,200 on a single project bid after I stopped lowballing myself

I used to think I had to quote under $2,000 to get any graphic design gigs on Upwork. Last month a SaaS startup in Austin asked for a brand package, and I threw out $4,200 just to see what would happen. They didn't even negotiate, just said yes. Seriously changed how I think about my hourly rate versus the value of the whole job. Has anyone else had a jump like that after setting a higher floor?

Honestly one lucky win doesn't mean it's some big breakthrough.

Ha, that's wild! My buddy Mark pulled the same thing on a logo project for a local brewery. Quoted $3,800 after years of charging $800, and they just said yes. @torres.riley might call it a fluke, but Mark's been booking steady at that rate ever since.

Mark's story reminds me of this potter I used to watch at a craft fair. She sold mugs for $20 for years, then one day she put a $120 price tag on one just to see what would happen. Some guy bought it without blinking, and she started marking everything up by a ton. Last I heard she's selling custom vases for $600 a pop and has a waitlist. You never know how people will react until you just try it, right?
