Saw a freelancer get burned at a coffee shop in Portland
Was grabbing a cortado last Tuesday at this place on Division. Overheard a guy on the phone agreeing to a flat $200 for a whole branding package. No written contract, no kill fee, nothing. He looked stressed after he hung up. Have you ever watched someone make a bad deal in real time?

Did he seriously take a branding job for just two hundred bucks? That's rough to watch and even worse to be the one stuck in that deal. You could tell he knew he messed up the second he hung up the phone. Those flat fee jobs with no contract always end up costing more in stress than they're worth. Hope he gets out of it without losing too much sleep.

Two hundred bucks for a branding job isn't great but people act like he signed over his firstborn. He'll learn from it and move on, it's not that deep.
