The 3-tier pricing trick that stopped my clients from haggling

Honestly, I used to just quote one flat rate for grooming packages and every single client would try to knock it down. Then I tried offering three tiers, basic at $45, standard at $65, and premium at $85, and suddenly nobody argued, they just picked the middle one every time. It worked so well that I tested it with a new client in Austin last month and she upgraded to premium without me even pushing it. Has anyone else used tiered pricing to steer people away from negotiating?

The middle tier trick works until people catch on. Once they realize everyone picks the $65 option, they start asking why the basic is so bare bones. I had to tweak mine so the basic actually looks stripped down on purpose, like no belly brush or ear cleaning, and the premium has stuff people genuinely want, like nail grinding instead of clipping. Now the haggling shifted to people asking if they can split the difference between standard and premium, which defeats the whole point.
