The moment I realized I was quoting too fast, not too high

I run a small cleaning service and for like 2 years I'd send out quotes within an hour of getting a request. Last month a lady in Austin called me back after 3 days and said 'we went with someone else because you seemed desperate.' That hit me hard. I thought being quick meant being professional, but it read as me having no other jobs. I started waiting a full day, adding a little detail about my process, and mentioning my current schedule is tight. Since then I've gotten 2 out of 3 quotes accepted instead of 1 out of 5. Has anyone else noticed that pacing your response changes how clients see your value?

Read somewhere that waiting even 24 hours can make people see you as busier and more in demand. Sounds counterintuitive but the results kind of speak for themselves, right?
