Update: thought the $40 deposit on a signed scope of work was a waste, then a client in Fresno ghosted me
Started asking for a small deposit before I touch anything, and after a guy in Fresno went quiet on a $1,900 job, that 40 bucks was the only thing that stung. Now I say it plain: "Deposit holds your spot on the schedule." How do you word it so it doesn't scare off the good ones?
