Found out my grandpa's 1968 offset smoker cost him 3 weeks of pay
I was cleaning out my late grandpa's garage in Amarillo last month and found the receipt for his old stick burner, stamped 1968. The smoker ran him $150, and he was making about $50 a week at the time, so that thing cost him a full paycheck and then some. Back then he had to drive 40 miles to Lubbock just to find a place that would weld a new firebox door for him. Got me wondering, what did you guys pay for your first real pit compared to what it would have been worth back then?
