My offset smoker door flew open mid-cook at a family reunion in Austin
I was 4 hours into a brisket for 30 relatives last Sunday when the latch on my old offset finally gave up and the door swung wide, dumping all my heat and smoke in about 30 seconds. I had to wedge a brick against the door and babysit it with a spray bottle for the next 2 hours while my uncle kept asking if the meat was 'still safe'. Has anyone else rigged a broken smoker door mid-cook, or am I the only one who's ended up with a patio full of smoke and a brick as my pitmaster tool?
