Appreciation post: A customer brought in a 1980s Peugeot with a seized seatpost that I finally got out after soaking it in penetrating oil for three days straight.
What's the most stubborn stuck component you've ever managed to free, and what finally did the trick?

The "seizure-dance" thing really hit home. I used to think heat was always the answer for stuck stuff, but honestly soaking stuff for days like that changed my whole approach. Sometimes patience really does beat brute force.

Ever try to get a freewheel off? I spent a week on one and my victory dance looked like I was having a seizure.

A week on a single freewheel? I've had stubborn ones, but that's a whole new level of dedication. I would have been hunting for a blowtorch by day three. That must have been the most satisfying seizure-dance in history.

My uncle's old shop had a special vise just for freewheels, @the_alice. The real trick is keeping the chain whip from slipping when you're putting all your weight into it. That moment when it finally cracks loose is pure relief.
