Finally switched to cable cutters that aren't from a hardware store
Used to chew through housing with old wire cutters for about two years before a shop guy in Denver handed me a Park Tool cutter to try. Three cuts later I bought my own set and my hands don't ache after a full day of builds anymore - anyone else hold out way too long on spending for the right tool?

Ha! Right? My old cutters left so much frayed plastic I felt like I was building bikes out of a craft project. Now my hands don't sound like bubble wrap when I grab a coffee.

Park Tool cutters are a game changer. I was using a pair of cheap pliers for way too long because I didn't want to spend the money. Finally broke down and got a set, now my hands don't hurt either.

Oh man, you are so right about this. I was in the exact same boat for years using these old rusty pliers I found in my dad's toolbox, thinking they were fine. Then I borrowed a friend's Park Tool cutters once and it was like night and day, seriously. The way they cut through housing so clean without fraying everything up is just... it makes the whole job faster and way less frustrating. I got my own set right after that and I don't know why I waited so long, it's one of those tools that pays for itself in saved time and hassle.
