Got talked into trying wax chain lube and now I can't go back

I was a heavy oil guy for 15 years but a customer at the shop in Austin insisted I test his bike after he applied Squirt wax. The drivetrain was so quiet and clean I ordered a pot of Molten Speed Wax that night. Anyone else made the switch and found their chains last longer?

Also @joseph_green13 is spot on about the longevity thing. Wax lube doesn't hold onto grit the way wet lubes do so your parts wear way slower over time. It's a solid change if you live somewhere with road salt or a lot of dust.

Yeah "so quiet and clean" is exactly what got me too. I ran a shop for a few years in Denver and this one guy would come in every month with his chain just caked in gritty black gunk from all the road salt. I switched to wax after that and honestly I noticed my chainrings started lasting longer too.

My buddy had the exact same experience up in Minnesota. He was swapping chains every few months until he tried wax on a whim. Now his drivetrain looks brand new after a whole winter of slush and salt.
