Just realized how a magnet can simplify chain line checks
I was adjusting my derailleur (you know, that endless trial and error) and stuck a fridge magnet on the dropout to eyeball alignment. Now I get it right the first time every time.

Smart trick, really. Using a magnet as a fixed guide beats trying to hold a ruler or just guessing. It stays put on the metal dropout so you can actually focus on the chain. Might have to try that next time my shifting acts up.

Seriously! It's clever how these low-tech fixes often work best, just like @tessap97 said. My only worry is a weak magnet slipping at the wrong time. What's the strongest type you've found that still stays put?

Why do we always overcomplicate fixes, Jackson, when simple tools work best?

Remember my buddy who kept messing up his chain line? He tried that magnet trick with a junky speaker magnet and it was a total game changer for him. It held tight and he finally got his old bike shifting smooth. Sometimes the best fix is just the one that works.
