Pin spanner finally got me after 5 years of dodging it
I was trying to tighten down a Shimano bottom bracket cup last Tuesday and my pin spanner slipped off the notch. It whipped around and smacked my knuckle right into the chainring bolt. Took me 20 minutes to stop bleeding and find the little pin that flew across the garage. Anyone else have a tool they just can't seem to trust anymore?

Man you gotta give that pin spanner another chance. That little tool has gotten me through dozens of bottom bracket swaps without much fuss before today. I've pinched myself plenty of times but it's always been operator error - the tool itself never did me wrong. That chainring bolt was just waiting to get you regardless of what you were holding in your hand. The real problem here is rushing a job when you're tired and losing focus for a split second.

Woah wait @keith164 - "dozens of bottom bracket swaps"? How many bikes do you own or how many friends owe you beer money? That's wild. Respect though, not knocking it.

Pinched myself plenty of times" - yeah I feel that. Last time bled all over a brand new chain. Had to stop and wrap my thumb in a shop rag just to keep working. Not my finest hour.
