Serious question, are we all overthinking bottom bracket creaks?

Spent a whole afternoon chasing a noise on a carbon frame, only to find the seatpost clamp was a quarter turn loose (took about 5 minutes to fix). Has anyone else had a simple fix hide behind a complex diagnosis?

Oh man. Yeah, @hernandez_gavin gets it. The loudest noises come from the smallest parts. My rule is to check every bolt you can see before you even touch the bottom bracket. It's never the thing you think it is. Saves a lot of time and swearing.

Nah, that noise is ALWAYS the bottom bracket. People just don't want to admit their fancy press-fit setup is a total headache. Loose seatposts are the exception, not the rule.

Ugh, don't even get me started. @finley_smith is probably right, but I spent a whole weekend convinced my bottom bracket was toast. Tore the whole bike apart, greased everything. The noise? A dang loose bottle cage bolt. Felt like a total genius. Honestly, my ego still hasn't recovered from that one.
