Why does nobody talk about greasing pedal threads instead of using anti-seize?
I used to slap anti-seize on every set of pedal threads that came through my stand, and last month I switched to plain marine grease after a buddy who wrenches at a shop in Portland showed me his 15 year old cranks with clean threads. The anti-seize always dried into this chalky paste that made the next removal gritty, while the grease has stayed slick through a full winter of salt and rain. Anyone else find that the cheap stuff holds up better here, or am I missing something about the galvanic side of it?

The anti-seize turning into chalky paste is basically its way of saying it had a great time and hopes you never call again. Marine grease just quietly does its job like a boring coworker who never misses a day. Mine has been through two winters and the threads still look like they were cut last week. The galvanic worry is mostly a thing for fancy bike parts anyway, not your average steel crank. Cheap and slick beats expensive and gritty every time in my book.
